Christmas at Nelson Cathedral got underway on November 24 with the Switch on Service for the Christmas Tree Festival and since then close to 7,000 people have come in to look at the trees. Last Saturday alone, we welcomed 500 individuals through the doors.
Alongside this annual event we have also hosted two big concerts for the Chroma and Civic Choirs, as well as run our own with the NBS Nelson City Brass Band and Cathedral choir. Beyond these special events, our regular services continued, including the Advent and Nine Lessons and Carols services.
Overall, in the weeks leading up to Christmas over 9,000 people have come into the Cathedral.
Our prayer is that, as they visit, they will get a real sense of God’s presence and hopefully return to celebrate the good news of Christmas Day.
