Kia ora, Nelson Diocese. We are the Nzimbis—Paul, Rita, Benzi (21), Alika (19), and Ttei (14). As a family, we are excited to join Victory Church and begin this new chapter of ministry in Aotearoa. We describe ourselves as a God-loving, fun-loving, and people-loving family. Rita and I have been married for 23 years, and one of the traditions we’ve cherished most is our Wednesday night family “date nights.” For over 15 years, we’ve kept this time sacred to connect as a whānau, whether it’s watching movies, visiting friends, or sharing a good meal.
The call to serve in Nelson came as part of our journey of responding to God’s mission for our lives. We’ve always felt a deep desire to minister globally, and Victory Church is an answer to many prayers. It’s humbling to see God opening doors to serve as missionaries in another continent, and we’re trusting Him as we step into this new season.
What excites us most about Nelson is the warmth of the people. Even before meeting face-to-face, the welcome we’ve received has been incredible. We also can’t wait to experience more of the natural beauty of this region, which we’ve already heard so much about.
My ministry journey began in 1996, and I became a full-time pastor at 22. Over the years, I’ve served in various roles: 13 years as a youth pastor in Nairobi, church planting and mission work in Rwanda, and most recently, leading Trinity Chapel Machakos in Kenya.
Through all these seasons, the Lord has taught us to trust in His faithfulness. It’s His church, and He will build it. One of the greatest lessons I carry with me is the importance of waiting on the Lord and letting Him guide each step. It’s in those moments of waiting and trust that we see His plan unfolding in ways beyond what we could imagine.
We are grateful for this opportunity to join the Victory Church whānau and the Nelson Diocese. As we settle in, we look forward to sharing life, worshipping together, and seeing God move powerfully in this community.
Ngā manaakitanga,
Paul Nzimbi
