We are an evangelical, charismatic Anglican parish, centered on St John's Church & Worship Centre in Wakefield Village, and also allied with St Paul's in Murchison and St Peter's in Tapawera. We are a church who are working hard to be an authentic expression of being Christian, as well as being deeply engaged with our rural communities. At present we are seeking to shift from being primarily providers of worship services , to becoming missional people engaged strongly with our community with a view to reach others for Christ. In St Johns, We have the oldest church in the South Island, and also one of the newest, in the St Johns Worship Centre. Homegroups are a significant part of our life together, and
our Mission Statement is : To Worship God and Grow as disciples, to love one another deeply and to go out with Good Deeds and Good News.
Our present outreach in WAKEFIELD is:
To children in Mainly Music at 10am Monday mornings and
Our Kid's Church which runs parallel to the 10.30am service at Wakefield Worship Centre.
We hold a monthly luncheon for the elderly in Wakefield.
At MURCHISON we hold a weekly worship service at 10.30am along with a Sunday school in the Lounge.
Murchison Hall also doubles as an Opportunity Shop which serves the local community.
The TAPAWERA church (St Peter's) has a 10.30am service on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month and is a fellowship of people growing in the knowledge and love of our Lord Jesus Christ. This church serves the communities of Tapawera, Korere, Motupiko, Tui, Tadmor and Stanley Brook and neighbouring valleys.
