We rejoiced over the confirmation of eight members of St Christopher's on Sunday 11 August, on the occasion of the 115th birthday of the church.

The moving service was attended by over 130 worshipers, with some people being moved to tears witnessing the candidates publicly affirm their faith and devotion to Christ and receive grace through the bishop's laying on of hands and prayer. God truly does perform an amazing work of grace in confirmation for those who participate in it with genuine faith in Christ.

As one Anglican Prayer Book puts it:

In Confirmation, God, through the bishop's prayer for daily increase in the Holy Spirit, strengthens the believer for Christian life in the service of Christ and his kingdom. Grace is God's gift, and we pray that he will pour out his Holy Spirit on those who have already been made his children by adoption and grace in Baptism.

We at St Christopher's give thanks to the Lord for this milestone in the discipleship of these brothers and sisters, and we are mindful of our spiritual responsibility to help them to continue to grow in their faith and walk with Christ.
