Emmaus is this year’s key leadership gathering across the diocese, replacing our annual Leadership Camp at St Arnaud for 2026.

With the rising cost of living and travel, we’re taking Emmaus “on the road with Jesus” – hosting gatherings in regions across the diocese. Our hope is that this makes it easier for more leaders to take part. This gathering is hosted at Holy Trinity in Greymouth.

Emmaus is for anyone who serves and leads in our parishes: clergy, key leaders, youth and children’s leaders, elder care workers, wardens, vestry members, treasurers… whatever part you play, we’d love to see you there.

Guest Speaker Clint Ussher

Alongside a message from Bishop Steve, we’re delighted to have Clint Ussher joining us for the main sessions at each gathering. Clint is the senior leader at The Well in Christchurch and is widely respected as a gifted communicator and biblical teacher, with a deep passion for the Church and its mission.

Workshops

This year’s workshops are shaped around three key themes – leadership wisdom, ministry development, and spiritual growth – as we explore the revitalisation of our diocese together.

Cost

Thanks to a grant from St John’s College Trust Board for Ministry Education, these gatherings are heavily subsidised. If cost is a barrier, please speak with your parish – additional support is available.

Lay Early Bird: $20 per person - closes 22 May
Lay Regular: $30 per person - from 23 May
Clergy (includes Friday dinner): $40 per person
